From 21 to 23 February 2017, experts of accredited laboratories of Food products testing of Food Products and Drinks Expertises department and Firearm testing of Firearm Expertises department and the specialist of Quality Assurance department of the National Bureau of Expertises (NBE) took part in three-day practical workshop organized in Yerevan by German Organization for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the National Institute of Metrology of the Federal Republic of Germany (PTB).

The practical workshop consisted of three parts devoted to modern methods of testing and calibration of devices used in testing in the fields of wine production, natural juices, dried fruit, and fish farming.

The practical workshop in Armenia was aimed at informing both organizations specializing in food production and services that were responsible for controlling the quality of food on creating and expanding appropriate infrastructures in matters of standardization, metrology, certification currently being implemented in the Member States of the European Union (for example the Federal Republic of Germany).

The objective of the seminar was to create conditions for conditions for stable development of exports, especially for foodstuff, and special attention was paid to methods and technologies allowing to ensure compliance of quality norms and standards in the field of food products produced by the European Union (the EU), for certification of final products, etc..

It is necessary to underline a number of reports submitted by invited experts from abroad as well as by leading specialists of Armenia's state structures that are related to ensuring the uniformity of measurements, developing of metrological support for production, organizing and conducting analyzes of the quality characteristics of food products and their measurements. The EU requirements were briefly submitted for the quality of the products under discussion and on this basis the Armenian companies expressed their readiness to export products to EU countries.

After each report in the format of "questions and answers", discussions were held on the presented topics. In each of the three cycles of the seminar, both an analysis of the problems already identified and a comparative analysis of the quality of food products produced in Armenia were presented in comparison with the well-known European brands.

The participants expressed their gratitude for the support of National Accreditation Board in organizing the seminar, emphasizing the modernity of the seminar and the scientific and practical importance of the advancement of food products in the EU market.
