One of the Important areas of international cooperation of the National Bureau of Expertises (NBE) is the activity within the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI), a member of which is NBE since 2011.

In this context it is necessary to emphasize the active participation of NBE leadership and experts in official final annual conferences, international symposiums and seminars organized by ENFSI, also in ENFSI forensic group conferences in certain areas of forensic science.

It should be noted, that the constant desire of NBE leadership and staff to be in compliance with the leading achievements of the world’s forensic science, has allowed not only to adopt modern tools and methods of forensic practice of forensic expertise field in past 5 years during the active work within ENFSI, establish international contacts with specialized forensic institutions of EU countries, but also be presented as a forensic organization solving theoretical and practical complex problems of identifying and preventing crimes in the Republic of Armenia.

Therefore, having the official invitation of NBE Director Artashes Javadyan to hold one of ENFSI Board’s 2016 scheduled meetings in Yerevan, ENFSI leadership, without hesitation, decided to include Board meeting in its 2016 list of measures.

The event took place in the second half of June, on the basis of the National Bureau of Expertises. It should be noted that the fact of holding ENFSI Board meeting in Yerevan is special, as the outgoing meeting of the Board took place in one of the post-Soviet countries for the first time. Almost the whole staff of ENFSI delegation arrived in Yerevan, headed by the Chairman of the Board Jan De Kinder.

Noted that the ENFSI Board meeting in Yerevan has accompanied with an important and useful meetings. Meetings are held at the National Academy of Sciences, Yerevan Municipality, RA Prosecutor's Office. European guests are welcomed by the heads and deputy heads of the specified state institutions. ENFSI Board members also met with President of the Union Armenian experts, prof. A.P. Tadevosyan.

During the visit the guests got acquainted with the activities of NBE. The guests, accompanied by the Director A.Javadyan, visited NBE departments, got acquainted with their work, equipments, priority directions and theme of scientific-practical research.

Then, on the results of the ENFSI Board members’ visit to NBE departments, the director A. Javadyan held a working discussion during which are discussed the issues related with NBE activity within ENFSI. In particular, are discussed the most important issues of criminology and forensic expertise, the format of contact activation in the frames of a number of projects currently implemented by ENFSI member organizations. During the debate the importance was given to one of the forms of cooperation with ENFSI. the terms and conditions are agreed, to which following NBE can be the participant of «Monopoly programme» projects, forming by 2020.

At the end of the visit, the guests expressed their gratitude to NBE leadership for the warm welcome and high-level event organization. NBE achievements were highly appreciated. An agreement with ENFSI leadership was made on more active involvement of NBE in all areas of activity of the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes.
