Participation in NATO seminar dedicated to CBRN defence

The expert  of Arson and Explosives Expertises  department of National Bureau of Expertises (NBE) V. Frangyan   attended the study visit within the Project  44  CBRN  ‘’Strengthening CBRN first response capabilities and regional cooperation in South East Europe, Southern Caucasus, Moldova and Ukraine’’. The Project was conducted in Warsaw, Poland on 3 - 5 April 2016. It was devoted to CBRN-Chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defence and was also attended by specialists from South East Europe, Southern Caucasus, Moldova and Ukraine.

It should be noted that Chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defence (CBRN defence) is protective measures taken in situations in which chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear warfare (including terrorism) hazards may be present. At the same time CBRN defence consists of CBRN passive protection, contamination avoidance and CBRN mitigation.

The objective of the program was to introduce the representatives of the countries listed to CBRN first response capacities and defence to CBRN accidental and natural events, activities, modern methodologies,  devices and  equipment applied in the mentioned field.

The presenters of the seminars shared their knowledge related to innovations for preventive measures, their rich experience to ensure the safety and eliminate the consequences of the use of weapons of mass destruction.

This event was also very important as it was aimed at deepening and expanding cooperation with NATO member and partner countries.

After the theoretical seminars the participants visited the Polish State Fire Service, Warsaw Safety Center, Warsaw Unit N6 of Fire and Rescue Services of the Warsaw Chopin Airport.

During these visits, practical trainings were conducted, in the course of which the participants were  shown the devices and equipment of  the above-mentioned organizations, the scope and methods of their application, modern methods and equipment for detection of radioactive, nuclear and explosive substances, in particular in airports.

It’s worth mentioning that this event gave also an opportunity to establish contacts with the representatives of the participating countries.
