Participation in 25th Annual Meeting of European Network of Forensic Science Institutes

The Head of Arson and Explosives of National Bureau of Expretises Department David Melkumyan from May 21 to 24, 2013 participated in 25th Annual Meeting of European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI) in Belgrade (Serbia). In the Meeting took part representatives from 64 member-organizations from 27 countries.

An official reception was organized in the Belgrade City Council building, where with a speech the First Deputy of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Serbia and Chairman of City Council greeted the participants. After the official reception took place concert of classical music.

The Annual Meeting consisted of thematic and practical parts.

In the Thematic part were made speeches dedicated to the individual-psychological investigations of forensic organizations directed to the improvement of personnel management level and working conditions as well as the negative consequences of forensic investigation procedures requirements violations.

The speeches in the Practical part were devoted to the problems in the ENFSI member-organizations, problem-solving steps as well as ENFSI future visions. Among the discussed questions, were the accreditation processes of the member-organizations according to ISO/IEC 17025 international standard, the participation of Working Groups in Monopoly Programmes from 2009 to 2012 and the results of Working Groups activity, etc. In order to get rid of the drawbacks of activities amendments directed to tightening control were made in the main documents of ENFSI.

During the Meeting the reports of Board and Standing Committees' 2012-2013 activities (presented by 31.03.2012) were discussed and accepted by the participants.

The participation of David Melkumyan in ENFSI Annual Meeting had very important role for expanding the international cooperation of the National Bureau of Expertises, RA. He had business meetings with the representatives of Switzerland, the Russian Federation, the Ukraine and Latvia coming into tentative agreements about possible cooperation in joint research and scientific works.

There were also meetings with the representatives of leading foreign organizations that produce and sell devices and equipment used in forensic sphere.
